Umno/BN govt cannot control Napoleonic civil servants

Sarawak leader says Christian items grab reflects rising religious extremism

The move has angered leaders in Sabah and Sarawak who claim that Putrajaya is ignoring the 10-point solution on the use of ‘Allah’ in Christian literature. – Facebook pic, November 1, 2014.While the latest seizure of Christian materials containing the word “Allah” at klia2 in Sepang last week appears to be resolved, Sarawak's outspoken minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing views the episode as ominous and portends growing religious extremism in the country.
The seizure is not the first in Malaysia, despite the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government's pledge in 2011 to allow such materials in states where Islamic law was silent on the matter.
“Moderation and religious tolerance and respect have been cast at the wayside,” he said in reaction to the seizure of hundreds of books and CDs from Sabah pastor Maklin Masiau by Customs officials last Saturday.
“The seizures showed religious extremism is gaining ground in Malaysia,” said an uneasy Masing, who is Sarawak's Land Development Minister.
He said it would be most unfortunate if Malaysia is heading towards becoming an Islamic state “where tolerance for other religious practices are ignored or banned”.
Masiau said in a Facebook posting that the books and CDs he was carrying were Christmas gifts for a church in Sabah.
He was returning to Kota Kinabalu from Medan, Indonesia, and was on transit at klia2.
Masiau is active in the area of Pitas, considered one of the poorest areas in Sabah and where poor Christians are allegedly often induced to convert to Islam with offers of money.
Masing (pic), who heads the second largest BN party in Sarawak, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), said in order to thwart fundamentalists and extremists, it was imperative that non-Muslims stand together and uphold the spirit of religious freedom as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, the minister in charge of unity, said yesterday that efforts were being made to return the seized books and CDs to Masiau as the Cabinet has unanimously pledged its support for the 10-point solution on the use of "Allah" in Christian literature.
Kurup also said the Cabinet wanted civil servants to comply strictly with the 10-point solution.
The 10-point solution drawn up before the Sarawak elections in 2011 provided for Bibles in all languages to be imported, including those in Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia which contained the word “Allah”.
The 10-point solution also allowed for the printing, importation and distribution of the Alkitab, the Bahasa Malaysia version of the Bible.
Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian said such seizures only tested the patience of people in Sabah and Sarawak.
He believed the actions of the civil servants concerned amounted to “a calculated intimidation”.
“Are little Napoleons deliberately stirring trouble or have the relevant authorities not learned from the episodes we went through on this issue? “Whatever it is, I hope the minister in charge (Kurup) will do the right thing this time.
“We in Sabah and Sarawak have been very patient all this while,” he said, adding that if such actions continued, the people would run out of patience and “we don't want this to happen.
“Don't simply seize and confiscate without proof that these goods are to be used for unlawful purposes.”
A PKR branch leader, Boniface Willy Tumek, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak must not only show himself as the moderate leader that he claimed to be, but as the prime minister, he must also show that he was in charge.
“He must order the immediate release of the books and the CDs and revoke the order that caused these problems.
“Failure to do that will bring dishonour to Malaysia as a member of the United Nations Security Council and more disrepute to Malaysia in the eyes of the international community,” he said.
Social media users have also reacted to the seizure of the books and CDs, with Facebook user Alex Asing saying the Customs’ action as “really not a sensible thing to do”.
“Much has been said regarding the issue. At the end of the day, who gives a damn how you call your god,” he said.
One of DAP's Dayak leaders, Leon Jimat Donald posted “It's getting worse” on Facebook.
Another Facebook user, Apai Nyanggau (Father Nyanggau) asked if the Court of Appeal decision to uphold the ban on the use of the word “Allah” in the Catholic weekly Herald applied to CDs and books.
The Home Ministry said the seizure of the materials had nothing to do with their containing the word “Allah”, but because Masiau did not have an import permit, which is required by the ministry when foreign publications were brought into the country.
Hashimah Nik Jaafar, the ministry's publications and Quranic text division head told The Malaysian Insider yesterday evening that if a person was carrying one or two books, Customs would usually just let the person through.
“But he was carrying 574 books and 419 CDs in five to six boxes, so naturally the Customs officers checked.
"And it was just procedure for them to seize it for the purposes of referring the publications to us because they were brought in from another country in bulk without an import permit.
"It had nothing to do with the materials containing the word ‘Allah’," she said. – November 1, 2014.
Umno/BN govt cann ot control Napoleonic civil servants
What a LAUGH -  after 56 in control of the civil service, still can't control Napoleonic civil servants.
Best leave running the govt now before there is chaos in the civil and other sectors!

Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail arrogance

Report me for abuse of power, AG tells the people

October 31, 2014
I don’t prosecute at my whim and fancy, says AG Abdul Gani.
Abdul Gani PatailPUTRAJAYA: Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail said that he did not make the decision to prosecute at his whim and fancy but based on the law.
The power of prosecution was used sparingly based on police reports made and discretion of the Attorney-General under Article 145 (3) of the Federal Constitution.
“The decision to prosecute was made jointly. I did not make the decision on my own. I did not accuse people at my whim and fancy. Whether the people like it or not is not an issue as it is based on the law.”
Abdul Gani said he was ready to be investigated if there were formal complaints and proof that he abused his position in the prosecution of cases.
The dissatisfied groups were advised to report the matter to the police or to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“Report me if there is abuse of power. I have no problem,” he told Bernama after the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) monthly assembly yesterday.
Some media reports slammed him for alleged discrimination, mistakes and failure to use his discretion, leading to an increase in cases prosecuted under the Sedition Act 1948.
Abdul Gani said that stern action would be taken against officials for violating the law and raising negative issues.
“We don’t wait long to take action. When an issue arises, we remove the officer. It not does matter whether he is guilty or not. We have to prevent the situation from worsening.
“Within two months, we will dismiss him or hold back his salary,” he said when asked about the type of action taken against errant staff.
In 2009, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Azar Irwan Mohd Arifin was charged with amending minutes of investigation papers on three suspects of drug cases.
AG holds himself aloof as he can do no wrong.
How much miscarriage of justice and injustices he has caused!!!, only God knows.
May God deal with him as his folly and evil and wickedness deserve!

The Rise of the Students' voice in Malaysia

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim speaks to students from on top of a truck on the perimeter of University Malaya, October 27, 2014. — Pic by Choo Choy MayDatuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim speaks to students from on top of a truck on the perimeter of University Malaya, October 27, 2014. — Pic by Choo Choy MayKUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 — Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim finally makes it to his alma mater, Universiti Malaya (UM), which had tried earlier to keep him from delivering his address to the student population by closing all the gates into the campus here.
The Dewan Tunku Canselor, the venue for the talk titled "Anwar Ibrahim: 40 Years from UM to Jail" and organised by the university's student council, is closed and blanketed in darkness.
The university administration had cut power to the area just hours earlier, ostensibly for maintenance reasons, though the timing is questionable.
But the 67-year-old UM alumnus is undaunted.
He climbs onto the back of truck parked across the road from Dewan Tunku Canselor, where the streetlights are still switched on and speaks into a microphone to the hundreds — perhaps even thousands — of students who braved the evening downpour and helped open UM's gates for him.
"I am very grateful to be invited by PMUM to speak here tonight. I did not organize this event. I am a guest," Anwar says in Malay, thanking UM's student council whom he calls by its Malay abbreviation.
He is instantly met with a roar of approval from the crowd that nearly drowns out the rest of his speech.
He speaks to them about his days as a student activist in the late 1960s, of a time when there was more space and freedom for the undergraduates to express their thoughts.
"Why is the university’s administration so afraid of me? Is there any harm for me to return to my alma mater to address the students?
"During my time as a student here, UM’s management and faculty allowed me to continue instead of stopping," he says.

Anwar had made a name for himself as a fiery student activist. He had led the UM Malay Language Society as president as well as several other youth movements, including the National Union Of Malaysian Muslim Students and the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM), which he co-founded.
"Our places of higher education are producing students without a soul when in the past, UM was respected on an international level.
"Where is the educational quality which the rakyat expects from our system? Why is Malaysia still behind other countries despite starting on equal footing?" he thunders.
He notes that honour and dignity is now lacking in Malaysia's institutions of higher learning, and blames it on the federal government for failing to improve on the country's educational rankings.
He calls on the young students to step up for the country's future.
"Malaysian youths should be the conscience of the country. They should remind Putrajaya that Malaysians will not keep quiet and accept multi-billion dollar corruption, wastage and leakage," he tells them.
He speaks further about his trial tomorrow in the nation's highest court, of his challenge to shake off the sodomy conviction — the second in his life — as decided by the Court of Appeal in March this year, overruling the 2012 acquittal by the High Court on lack of evidence.
The Permatang Pauh MP was charged with sodomy for the second time after a former male aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari, complained of being sodomised by the politician at the Desa Damansara condominium in upscale Bukit Damansara on June 26, 2008.
Anwar has repeatedly maintained his innocence, insisting that the charges were trumped up to kill his political career as he poses a threat to the Barisan Nasional coalition's decades-long rule with the Pakatan Rakyat alliance, which he now leads.
If Anwar fails to reverse his five-year imprisonment sentence and conviction in the Federal Court tomorrow, he would lose his seat as the law bars anyone fined RM2,000 or imprisoned for one year from serving as a lawmaker.

The shame of it all that UM has to play politics - it is an educational institution setup and paid with tax-payers' money.
They should be neutral and allow Anwar to speak, and now that 2,000 students or so turned up, the authorities have started a revolution among students that henceforth will be even more vocal and aggressive than before.
They should not think that they can by putting obstacles they can hinder students' activities. The younger generation are more and better informed and knowledgeable.

Concentration of powers in hands of Finance Minister needs review, says Ku Li

Former Finance Minister Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah says the Financial Procedure Act 1957 gives the minister full powers to decide on any government financial matter, leaving it open to abuse if the minister is so inclined. ― AFP picFormer Finance Minister Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah says the Financial Procedure Act 1957 gives the minister full powers to decide on any government financial matter, leaving it open to abuse if the minister is so inclined. ― AFP picKUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 ― Former Finance Minister Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah today mooted a review of the extensive powers given to the Finance Minister in managing the nation's money, in a bid to promote greater transparency in Putrajaya's dealings.
He said the Financial Procedure Act 1957 gives the minister full powers to decide on any government financial matter, leaving it open to abuse if the minister is so inclined.
“There are a lot of loopholes. For example direct negotiation (of projects). The Finance Minister can decide to just award projects that way,” he said at a news conference after opening a seminar of dealing with the Ali Baba menace organised by the Malay Economic Consultative Council (MTEM).
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is also finance minister at present.
Ali Baba is a uniquely Malaysian term to describe deals where Bumiputera businesses secure government deals through Putrajaya's affirmative action policy, only to pass them on to a non-Bumiputera partner for a share of the money.
Tengku Razaleigh said it is incumbent on Putrajaya to make it the norm to have open tenders so that the public knows they get their money's worth.
He stressed that he is not criticising the Barisan Nasional-led federal government, but merely “pointing out” the potential for abuse of the minister's powers.
“If we want to take control of corruption, we must look at the Financial Procedure Act,” he said.
The Gua Musang MP added this review should take place alongside a review of the Official Secrets Act (OSA) 1972, with the possibility of getting rid of the law.
He argued that the OSA has long been used to hide the truth behind many of the government's dealings, as it gives Putrajaya wide powers to pursue whistleblowers even if they have incriminating evidence of wrongdoings.
“I am suggesting a review, because the OSA has hidden thousands of sins, probably,” he said.
To give the fight against corruption more teeth, Tengku Razaleigh also proposed a review of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission Act (MACC) 2009, to incorporate wider powers for the MACC to be more effective in weeding out perpetrators.
He said there are salient provisions from Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) Ordinance ― on which the MACC is modelled ― that were not included in Malaysia's version of the graft busters.
“Somehow we missed salient provisions in the Hong Kong law, which helped bring corruption near to zilch there. This needs to be relooked.
“I particularly want to see not just the corrupt taken to book, but even their nominee, trustees... it should not be necessary for SPRM to go to court to reveal who these nominees are,” he said, referring to the Malay acronym for the MACC.
The ICAC was created in 1974 to tackle chronic corruption in Hong Kong, with officers given wide powers to investigate, arrest and prosecute graft suspects.
The ICAC is credited with nearly eradicating corruption in the former British protectorate, and is considered one of the most effective anti-graft bodies in the world.
Ku Li should take over as PM from Najib as he make a BETTER PM than Najib. This country is going down the drain under the current administration. We need a moderate, FAIR and STRONG PM to lead the nation. He due to his age should lead us at least temporarily as long as he can.

In ‘work paper’, Isma claims multiple global conspiracies to wipe out Malays - CRAP

Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman claimed that there are four main agendas being foisted on the Malays here by external powers that may lead to the loss of the race’s identity, civil war and ethnic cleansing. — file picture Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman claimed that there are four main agendas being foisted on the Malays here by external powers that may lead to the loss of the race’s identity, civil war and ethnic cleansing. — file pictureKUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — The Malay Muslim community here faces an alleged threat of ethnic cleansing by the world’s superpowers including the Jews, Christians and Chinese who are bent on destroying the Malay identity, an Islamist group claimed.
Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman claimed that there are four main agendas being foisted on the Malays here by external powers that may lead to the loss of the race’s identity, civil war and ethnic cleansing.
On his list of “dangerous” foreign agendas are liberalism and pluralism, China’s alleged Nam Tien “chauvinist” agenda, proselytisation by evangelical Christians and the spread of the competing Shiah Islamic ideology.
The self-styled champion of Malay Muslims claimed that the Jews have long pushed for world domination through a so-called New World Order, creating clusters of Muslims with liberal democratic leanings that the United States would accept as “moderates” to counter Muslims they label as extremists for merely choosing to defend their racial identities from the wiles of liberal ideology.
“Clashes between these two groups occur without needing the presence of the American military in the Islamic world. What they are doing is multiplying and activating the civil society movement, which will market their agenda and push the changes they want,” he said in a copy of a working paper he presented at an October 1 seminar at University Sultan Idris (Upsi) in Perak, sighted by Malay Mail Online.
“This civil society movement will champion the slogan of liberty, agility and freenity (sic) which happens to also be the Freemason’s slogan during the French Revolution,” he claimed further, referring to the French national motto of “liberte, egalite, fraternite” or freedom, equality, brotherhood.
Abdullah Zaik argued that the country and the Malays will gain nothing from adopting liberalism, secularism and pluralism, save for victory for the few champions of the movement whom he accused of failing to understand the allegedly insidious plot besieging the country’s dominant race.
He also reiterated the Chinese Nam Tien or southbound invasion theory, ostensibly to wipe out generations of Malays in the entire Malay archipelago, claiming that the Chinese are employing the same liberal agenda to dilute the Malay stock and eventually make way for China’s “chauvinist” agenda to take hold.
Abdullah Zaik is currently facing a sedition charge for making the allegation earlier this year.
The Isma chief went on to add that evangelist Christians are allegedly helping the Jews spread their Zionist agenda, taking advantage of the sentiments among Malaysian Christians to drive a wedge between the Peninsula and Sabah and Sarawak.
“Because of a lack of understanding or due to political interests, there are those among the Malays and Muslims who are willing to protect this movement in the name of a dialogue on national harmony,” he said.
Yet another alleged threat has its roots in the rise in power of Iran and the Shiah Islamic ideology, which Abdullah Zaik claimed are clearly under Jewish influence, just like the evangelical Christians.
Abdullah Zaik said this is where Muslims risk the most grievous fractures among the faithful, with bloodshed all but guaranteed if the Shiah ideology is allowed to take hold.
“Sadly the Muslims especially the Malays are so inept in facing these foreign agendas. This ineptitude has led to their failure to unite in the face of such dangerous threats despite sufficient advice and reminders,” he claimed.
Abdullah Zaik stressed that it becomes the duty of every Malay Muslim to declare jihad in defence of their identity and sovereignty of religion, race and country against all the external threats he mentioned, taking the battle to all fronts be it political, economic, education, culture, law or even national borders.
“Malaysia is the legacy of the Malay government of Malacca where Islam is the national identity and the sovereignty of the Malay race is inseparable from the understanding of Malaysia’s sovereignty.
“Today Malaysia’s national identity is being challenged. This means the position of the Malay race and Islam as part of the understanding of the nation’s sovereignty is being destroyed by the various parties mentioned,” he proclaimed.
Now this 'intellectual expert' is a world researcher and conspiracy theorist. Must be too much Malay supremacist attitude to think that the Jews and Chinese want to destroy the Malay race.
I think he needs to check into an asylum ASAP or get arrested for SEDITION for causing fear to Malays and accusing the Chinese of wanting to wipe out his race as this can cause the Malays to attack the Chinese.
The Illuminati wants to wipe out FIRST the Muslims, then the Jews and last the Christians. The IS military advance is a good excuse to destroy the Muslims. Who knows if the IS is not part of the Illuminati or a creation by them!

The Illuminati are Satanists worshiping Satan and the 3 major RELIGIONS are an obstacle to them.

Grenade attack linked to gambling kingpin

DBKL officers investigate the scene of a grenade explosion outside Sun Complex near Jalan Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur, October 9, 2014. — Picture by Yusof Mat Isa  KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — The grenade attack in Bukit Bintang that killed one man and wounded 13 others yesterday was targeted at a top Imbi gangster involved in a boiling online gambling war, Malay Mail can reveal.
A source close to the police investigations said the 53-year-old man known as “Ah Hai” was seeking to expand his gambling empire by recruiting bookies from other syndicates with the promise of higher profits.
This angered rival gambling syndicates that are believed to have put up a hit on him.
At 4am yesterday, two hitmen hurled two grenades from the second floor of the Sun Plaza parking just as Ah Hai was leaving the Cherry Blossom club at the basement of the building with his entourage.
The source said Ah Hai was at the club to negotiate a bookie recruitment drive and it is believed his rivals came to know about the meeting.
“Ah Hai was meant to be killed instantly as he was ‘pinching’ almost everyone who were working for the top bookies,” he said.
“CCTV footage at the parking lot shows two men hurling the grenades. They then immediately got into a car and fled. Police are still trying to establish the suspects’ identities as the recording was not clear.”
Ah Hai escaped unscathed while car jockey Tiong Kwong Yie, 36, died after the grenade exploded and injured 13 others including his driver and personal bodyguard.
In 2006, he was high on the wanted list for his suspected involvement in one of the biggest illegal bookmaking rackets in the country.
It is not known whether he was caught  then.
The source said the gambling kingpin was previously arrested under the Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985 for drug trafficking and possession.
The source said Ah Hai owned several businesses around Bukit Bintang and police were scrutinising the nature of his businesses with the registrar of societies.
Ah Hai also led a lavish life.
Malay Mail discovered that he splurges at least RM20,000 to RM30,000 each time he goes to his favourite haunt, Cherry Blossom, whether to carry out business negotiations or simply to socialise.
His reputation of giving generous huge tips also made him a favourite at the club.
It is learnt police will be calling Ah Hai soon to interview him.
Now if this is true that this criminal act is drug-related, then we need to ask if the high ranking POLICE are protecting such criminals as they knew who he is and yet have not arrested him much earlier, surely he must have slipped in some way for the police in the past to have arrested him.
Can such a big figure cannot move around undetected.
The POLICE should get their act together and go after  REAL criminals and not go after political opponents and those who criticizes the govt.
WHAT a let down.
People like Zam and Ibrahim Ali should shut up and noy talk about the ISA as with or without ISA crimes will be committed especially if the police are protecting them.
